Ghana Food Movement was born out of the need for collaboration among chefs and food professionals in Ghana. These passionate individuals felt they were working in silos and wanted to unite to celebrate and advance Ghanaian culinary traditions. With the support of like-minded food advocates, they founded the movement to transform the local food system and promote the country’s rich culinary heritage.
The Ghana Food Movement connects farmers, scientists, chefs, journalists, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and producers to reimagine Ghana’s food landscape. The organization champions sustainability, nutrition, and the preservation of traditional practices.
Its flagship initiative, The Kitchen, serves as a food education hub, training 1,000 young people annually to pursue careers in gastronomy, product development, agriculture, hospitality, and marketing of climate-resilient crops. Ghana Food Movement’s work highlights the importance of reclaiming local food systems while creating opportunities for the next generation of food leaders.
