Gastronomía Social

Changing the world through food is the mission of the Social Gastronomy Foundation (Fundación Gastronomía Social). The association, co-founded in 2019 by Rafael Rincón, Kurt Schmidt, Teresa García, Sebastián Díaz and Sebastián Gatica, aims to prove that gastronomy has incredible powers, particularly in the fight against hunger, the reduction of inequalities and social inclusion, and the environmental action. The foundation has also scale to Spain, Colombia and Chile. To achieve these objectives, the association is implementing several initiatives:

  • Los Niños Se Comen El Futuro (Children Eat the Future), a food education program in elementary school;
  • ÑAM, a ramified training and employability ecosystem, which focuses on social inclusion for young people;
  • Comida Para Todos (Food for All), a humanitarian assistance program to combat hunger;
  • Mi Almacén Mi Comunidad (My Store My Community), a program dedicated to helping grocers become leaders in implementing social initiatives that have an impact in their communities;
  • Minga, a circular economy system that trains people in food sustainability and food recycling to combat food waste and insecurity.
