Gastromotiva

Founded in 2006, by chef and social entrepreneur David Hertz Gastromotiva is an NGO whose mission is based in four pillars to promote social transformation through food: the development of people, income generation, hunger mitigation, and climate change and environmental preservation.

Gastromotiva offers free professional courses related to the food industry and entrepreneurship. The organization promotes social gastronomic dinners and distributes meals to people in vulnerable situations, fully utilizing food, to combating food waste in its Refettorio Gastromotiva in Rio de Janeiro, and in their Socialnetwork. Gastronomic kitchens in Rio, São Paulo, Curitiba, Manaus, Salvador, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais and Mexico City.

The NGO, since 2021, has projects focused on community territorial development, co-creating local solutions with community local leaders to address problems derived from climate issues in the Amazon.

All of Gastromotiva’s projects and programs are piloted in such a way that they can be replicated and adapted to realities and issues in other regions of Brazil and Latin America.
