nestwärme – Supporting Families, Fostering Inclusion
Since 1999, the German non-profit organisation nestwärme has been supporting families with children who are seriously or chronically ill or living with disabilities. Its ambition is to ensure that families do not have to face the challenges of everyday life alone, while helping to build a more inclusive society.
Through an extensive network of volunteers and professionals, nestwärme provides various forms of support, including family assistance and respite care, paediatric home care, support for siblings, inclusive childcare and paediatric palliative care.
The organisation places particular emphasis on human connection and families’ everyday lives. Food and cooking naturally have a role to play: through its Gute-nestwärme-Gerichte initiative, nestwärme invites families and supporters to share recipes and food-related memories, seeing mealtimes as special opportunities for comfort, sharing and creating connections.
The world of gastronomy also supports nestwärme through Léa Linster, Bocuse d’Or 1989, who is particularly committed to the organisation: she serves as ambassador of nestwärme’s branches in Luxembourg and Austria.
