Kamal Mouzawak is a Lebanese social entrepreneur, food activist, and one of the leading voices in the preservation of Lebanon’s culinary heritage. He is the founder of Souk El Tayeb, a pioneering social enterprise launched in 2004 that uses food as a tool for social cohesion, economic empowerment, and cultural preservation in post-war Lebanon.
By creating farmers’ markets, community restaurants (Tawlet), guesthouses, food festivals, and social kitchens, Kamal Mouzawak has helped support small-scale farmers, women cooks, and rural communities, while promoting fair trade, sustainable agriculture, and interfaith dialogue. His work bridges gastronomy with peacebuilding, showing how traditional food can strengthen communities and foster resilience.
