Cristina Bowerman’s commitment to sustainability and doing social good has been part of everything she has done professionally. She has joined Chefs’ Manifesto, the initiative launched by Paul Newnham that aims to end hunger, achieve food security and promote sustainable agriculture by 2030. Cristina Bowerman is also the Ambassador for Rise Against Hunger Italy, an association that has #famezero as its goal by 2030. Since 2016, she has served on the committee for the creation of the Food Act at the Ministry of Agriculture of Food Sovereignty and Forestry, as founder and president for six years of the national association Ambassadors of Taste. She has spoken at the World Economic Forum in Davos (on food education) and has collaborated as a lecturer with numerous universities including, but not limited to, Bocconi University in Milan, Bologna Business School, University of Illinois, and Luiss University in Rome. She is currently serving as Ambassador for Rise Against Hunger and Waste Watchers International Observatory helping to launch the Sprecometro application for restaurants.
Cristina doesn’t hesitate to put her know-how at the service of research and solidarity. Co-founder of the Fiorano For Kids she actively supports studies into the therapeutic role of specific diets in the treatment of childhood epilepsy. Especially because of its commitment to food sustainability, the Michelin Guide recently included Cristina Bowerman in its worldwide Green Initiative selection. Lastly, she is involved in the “Adopt a producer” campaign, with the goal of adopting small farmers and local producers, and was one of the first Chefs to participate in the Plastic Free certification program for her restaurant Glass Hostaria.
