Souk El Tayeb is a Lebanese social enterprise founded in 2004 by Kamal Mouzawak to promote and preserve the country’s culinary traditions, rural heritage, and natural environment. What began as a farmers’ market bringing together communities after the civil war has grown into a wide ecosystem — markets, restaurants, guesthouses, shops, festivals, and community kitchens — all supporting farmers, women, and local producers through fair trade, entrepreneurship, and low-impact practices. By combining economic sustainability with social and environmental impact, Souk El Tayeb embodies the principle of “doing well and doing good”, using food as a powerful tool for resilience, solidarity, and social cohesion in Lebanon.
