Chef

Rasmus Munk

Renowned Danish chef Rasmus Munk is known for his highly innovative approach to cuisine and his social commitment. In 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic, he had converted his two-starred restaurant, Alchemist, into a kitchen providing free, nutritious meals to homeless people. With the financial support of Lars Seier Christensen, the project has evolved into a stable program, offering daily meals in dedicated premises, with a team of permanent chefs.

Organization

Junkfood

Junkfood is a Copenhagen-based non-profit organization dedicated to providing nutritious meals to the homeless and needy. In addition to serving food, Junkfood aims to provide support and comfort to individuals marginalized in society. Meals are prepared from donated surplus food from supermarkets and other sources, helping to reduce food waste while providing essential meals to those in need. Junkfood also raises public awareness of poverty, hunger and homelessness. By highlighting these issues, the organization hopes to bring about social and political change to support society’s most vulnerable people.
