Wings of Change

Wings of Change was founded in 2018 by Afsana Amarsy, of Indian origin born in Madagascar. Her vision was to provide access to education and professional training for young people aged 18 to 26 from extremely underprivileged backgrounds—many of whom had never attended school.

What began with just a handful of students has grown into a thriving initiative. By 2025, the NGO operates six English learning centers and a full campus offering a comprehensive hospitality and tourism program. To date, Wings of Change has empowered over 2,700+ students.

The initial curriculum emphasizes language learning—primarily English—alongside computer literacy, as well as French and Italian. The most promising students are invited to join the hospitality and tourism program, which is fully funded by the organization. This program includes internships at local hotels, many of which lead to full-time employment.

The school’s mission is both practical and meaningful: to give students the essential skills to enter the job market with confidence.

In Nosy Be, the organization runs a purpose-driven hotel with a few bungalows that serve as a real-world training ground. Guests are drawn not only by the island’s natural beauty but also by the hotel’s commitment to social impact. All revenue from the hotel, Wings with Purpose, is reinvested directly into the education and training of students at the Vocational Hospitality School.

Numerous committed volunteers contribute their time and expertise to the program, such as Christophe Sépulcri and Nicole Mrad.
