Father Hani Tawk is a committed Lebanese Maronite priest, recognized for his social action in support of the most vulnerable populations in Lebanon. Deeply rooted in the realities on the ground, he has made solidarity and mutual aid the cornerstones of his work.
Together with his wife Dounia Tawk, he founded La Cuisine de Mariam (Mary’s soup kitchen) in Beirut, an initiative launched in the aftermath of the 2020 explosion. Together, they developed a project that is both humanitarian and economic, aimed at supporting families in need.
Through this community kitchen, they organize the daily preparation and distribution of thousands of meals, while providing employment and training opportunities for people in precarious situations. Their approach is driven by a strong conviction: restoring dignity, autonomy, and hope through work and sharing.partage.
Their initiative also reflects the necessity of living together in Lebanon, bringing together people of all backgrounds, cultures, and religions.
Father Hani Tawk embodies a hands-on figure for whom faith is expressed through action, and for whom cooking becomes a powerful tool for solidarity and social reconstruction.
