Judith is the young chef behind the Zimbabwean organization Akashinga. Adopting a positive mindset, she prepares vegan cuisine every day for the whole team, especially the many female rangers trained by the association in the fight against poaching.

Akashinga

Akashinga means “the brave ones” in Shona, Zimbabwe’s official language. These brave women are the rangers who fight every day to create a resilient ecosystem where wildlife, nature and communities thrive together. This NGO, founded in 2009 by Damien Mander, is known for its recruitment and training program for rural women. It aims to train women in various skills such as anti-poaching, wildlife monitoring and ecosystem preservation. According to the founder, this initiative is motivated by a desire for gender equality, particularly in a field where men exert a predominant influence.
