Handicap International – Humanity & Inclusion

Handicap International (known internationally as Humanity & Inclusion) is an international humanitarian organization founded in 1982, dedicated to supporting people with disabilities and other vulnerable populations. Operating in nearly 60 countries, the organization responds to conflicts, natural disasters, poverty, and exclusion by providing emergency assistance, rehabilitation services, inclusive education, and pathways to greater independence. It also works to defend the rights of people with disabilities and advocates for a more inclusive world.

Awarded the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize for its role in the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, Handicap International remains a leading global voice in protecting civilians from landmines, explosive weapons, and the long-term consequences of armed conflict. Beyond emergency response, the organization develops long-term programs in healthcare, education, economic inclusion, and prevention, helping people rebuild their lives with dignity.

Convinced that disability should never lead to exclusion, Handicap International works to create more accessible, inclusive, and resilient societies. Through its field operations, awareness campaigns, and advocacy at the international level, the organization promotes a deeply humanistic vision in which inclusion is a powerful driver of peace, sustainable development, and social justice.
