Baker

Julien CANTENOT

Born into the family behind La Panière, Julien Cantenot grew up in the world of artisan baking, where bread is synonymous with craftsmanship, sharing, and conviviality. After gaining experience within the family business in marketing, purchasing, and retail operations, he chose to follow his own path by dedicating himself entirely to the craft of baking.

Driven by a passion for natural fermentation and heritage grains, he trained alongside skilled artisans before founding Atelier P1 in Paris in 2019. His bakery quickly became a benchmark for its commitment to naturally leavened bread, ancient wheat varieties, and organic cereals. Each loaf reflects a deep respect for terroir, traditional craftsmanship, and close partnerships with farmers who cultivate biodiversity-friendly crops.

Deeply committed to a more sustainable food system, Julien Cantenot promotes a vision of baking in which the quality of ingredients, fair compensation for producers, the transmission of artisanal know-how, and environmentally responsible practices are inseparable. He regularly shares his expertise through training programs and professional events, convinced that bread can play a key role in shaping the future of food.

Alongside his family, he also contributes to the development of the Fonds La Panière, a shareholder foundation created to preserve the founding values of the family business while supporting public-interest initiatives focused on food, education, and social solidarity.

Through Atelier P1, Julien Cantenot embodies a new generation of artisan bakers who believe that excellence, environmental responsibility, and the transmission of knowledge naturally go hand in hand.

Fund

FONDS LA PANIERE

The Fonds La Panière is a shareholder foundation created by the Cantenot family, founders of La Panière, to preserve a business model that combines economic performance, social responsibility, and philanthropic commitment. This initiative builds on the legacy of the Savoy-based family business, which became a Mission-Driven Company (Société à Mission) in 2022 and has, for more than thirty years, placed food quality, respect for nature, and strong local roots at the heart of its development.

The concept is simple: part of La Panière’s share capital is now owned by the Fonds La Panière, which acts as a long-term shareholder. Its mission is twofold. First, to safeguard the company’s independence, purpose, and founding values over the long term. Second, to dedicate the dividends it receives to funding projects that serve the public interest, transforming the company’s economic success into a positive impact on society.

The Foundation is driven by a clear conviction: making cooking simple, convivial, and accessible to everyone. It supports initiatives that help children and families—especially those facing social or economic challenges—discover healthy, balanced, and enjoyable eating habits. By promoting food education from an early age, it aims to make cooking a powerful tool for health, social connection, and community cohesion. Among the initiatives it supports is Ma Chance Moi Aussi, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping vulnerable children and their families.

Through this innovative governance model, the Fonds La Panière demonstrates a new way of thinking about business: one in which economic value creation provides sustainable funding for public-interest initiatives while protecting the company’s founding values. It shows that a business can become a genuine driver of social and food-system transformation, serving both present and future generations.
