Chris Shepherd is a Midwest-born, James Beard Award-winning chef who transformed Houston’s culinary scene with his restaurant Underbelly, created in 2012 with the aim of supporting local producers by celebrating the diverse origins and cultures present in the region.
Author of several works reflecting his concerns, such as Cook Like a Local, he also launched the Emmy Award-winning television show Eat Like a Local.
Chris is also the founding director of Southern Smoke, a foundation dedicated to supporting hospitality industry employees facing crisis situations or health issues.
