Andreas Viestad

Chef, traveler, farmer, food writer, entrepreneur… Andreas Viestad is all of these things. Passionate about the food and culture that surrounds him, he is world-renowned for the New Scandinavian Cooking show, which he hosted for nine seasons, and for his culinary columns in The Washington Post.. Since 2010, he has been committed to defending children’s right to healthy food and culinary education. Inspired by Alice Waters’ The Edible Schoolyard, in 2011 he created the Geitmyra matkultursenter for barn.

Geitmyra matkultursenter for barn

The Geitmyra matkultursenter for barn is a culinary center for children in Norway. Initially based in Oslo, the association is now present in three other towns: Kristiansand, Ringsaker and Tønsberg. Founder Andreas Viestad describes these centers as places where “food and the joy of cooking are used to engage with children on themes related to nature, the environment and healthy food choices to contribute to a sustainable food system“.
