Commitment according to Cyril Rouquet Prévost

Cyril, what does commitment mean to you?

It all starts with education and role models.

My mother was very committed. People would gently tease her because she would always “bring home” homeless people from church and take care of them. She would organize collections to help them. She recycled, made donations… we didn’t waste anything.

All of this became a kind of legacy.

Then you go on to live your life. I’ve been lucky, so I wanted to give back. As a chef, I was horrified by the amount of waste in restaurants! I organized my own food distribution rounds, handing out hot meals around the restaurant. And that’s where social action met environmental action. The two are actually closely linked. Social action is often environmental action.

And I’m lucky to meet many people — committed individuals, associations, and so on. So we have opportunities to get involved. We can’t do everything, but there are a few organizations I remain committed to. For example: La Tablée des Chefs, Action pour l’Enfance, Better Together.
