Through engaged banquets, alternative culinary events and frequent public interventions, he advocates for sustainable, local, plant-forward and accessible food, while openly denouncing the excesses of the agri-food industry, greenwashing and the inconsistencies of the current food system. For him, cooking is not merely an art or a profession\u2014it is a tool for social and political transformation. Rejecting a form of luxury disconnected from reality, Nicolas Rieffel promotes a gastronomy rooted in meaning, seasonality, respect for all living beings and social justice. A sometimes controversial but essential voice, he constantly challenges chefs, institutions and consumers to take responsibility in building a fairer and more sustainable food future. He is also committed to the fight against cancer, notably through his involvement with Life Pink, a solidarity initiative that mobilizes gastronomy and chefs to raise awareness, fund research and support people affected by the disease.
