Founded by <strong>Maru Riqu\u00e9 <\/strong>and her husband <strong>Fausto Vargas,<\/strong> the foundation embodies the spirit of solidarity and resilience of Mexican society. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With over <strong>3,500 meals<\/strong> distributed to <strong>30 shelters<\/strong> in Tijuana particularly homeless community, unaccompanied minors, orphanages and others, the foundation fights against food insecurity, with the extraordinary support and commitment with over <strong>2,500 volunteers<\/strong> annually on both sides of the border.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em>For me, it\u2019s important to always get up with a purpose, and today it\u2019s an honor and a privilege to be able to help people when they\u2019re probably in the worst moment of their live<\/em>s,\u201d explains <strong>Maru Riqu\u00e9<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The chef of Tijuana\u2019s <strong>Oryx <\/strong>gourmet restaurant, <strong>Ruffo Ibarra<\/strong>, is also deeply committed to the initiative: \u201c<em>Our job is to feed people, we\u2019re in the service business and I\u2019ve always felt that my mission was to serve. Food is one of the tools of service.
